Garlic Cheese Bread Rolls

For my next bread-baking experience, I wanted to get a little creative and branch off from bread loaves. Following sugarspicesdream’s tiktok video, I made garlic cheese rolls, which were delicious. This recipe was quite fun because it involved new procedures such as layering cheese and butter, and rolling the dough into spirals. I did add chopped green onions to the butter spread inside because I needed to use them up, and I thought the flavour would work well with the rolls. After trying them, I noticed that they would possibly taste even better with some tomato sauce rolled inside, almost like a pizza roll. Something I’ll try in the future.

I find I much prefer a visual recipe rather than a written instructional one, so that I can gain a better understanding of the process and see the results. This inspired me to reflect on the diverse learning styles of students, and how some prefer learning visually, auditorily, or through kinesthetic means. My inquiry-based project is definitely via kinesthetic learning; however, visuals of recipes play a large part in what I decide to bake. This reflection has strengthened my appreciation for the different learning styles and understanding that students will prefer to learn in different ways. As a teacher, I need to be adaptable, flexible, open-minded and encouraging when it comes to students wanting to learn a certain way, because this will feed their engagement. On the other hand, I think it is a great challenge to learn knowledge via your less preferred method, and students can build on those skills.

  1. Annissa, the roll looks great! I think that is a great insight. I learn best with text, not visuals. I have to keep remembering to add/use visuals and forget at times. That is where the design templates, or an AI review, prompt me to think about multiple means of representation.
