About Me

Hi there! My name is Annissa Granegger and I am currently in the Elementary Post-Degree Professional Program at UVIC.

A little about me, I was born and raised for the first ten years of my life in Dubai, UAE. I then moved with my family to Victoria, BC, Canada, where I completed my secondary education and became a Canadian citizen. Unfortunately, Covid-19 hit my last year of high-school and I began my first year of university, at UBC, online. I proceeded to graduate a Bachelors of Science with a Major in Biology, and was unsure of my next steps.

I knew I wanted to try working with children, so I worked as a summer camp counsellor and loved it! I especially loved working with the three to five year olds and thought I had found my calling. Before committing to any new career path I travelled around Europe with a good friend for 10 weeks. Throughout my trip, I reflected on my experience working with children and how much I missed it. Once I came home, I knew I should pursue a career in early childhood education, leading me to where I am today.

I am so grateful for the childhood I experienced and the memorable teachers I had growing up. I aspire to be a kindergarten/grade one teacher and make every child’s early education experience as wonderful as mine.
